Welcome to my Game Progress Diary Solo, hand-drawn game creation, one update at a time.
There is finally a playable character in my hand-drawn open world RPG. See how she looks and moves in this new update.
After working on the savanna-inspired terrain, it feels amazing to have a character exploring the world. I have implemented her first outfit using an overlay system, which means every piece of clothing will be fully swappable as development continues. She also has a simple idle animation, adding a sense of life to the environment that has been missing until now.
This project is all about creating a cozy, casual game experience where you can just zone out and enjoy the atmosphere. I am focusing on making the world feel reactive and personal, from the dynamic sky to the smallest details of the character design. The footage at the end shows a bit of raw gameplay to give you a feel for the current movement and pacing.
Let me know what you think of her design and the outfit choices so far. Subscribe to follow along with this solo indie game development journey.
