LESS THAN A MONTH BEFORE THE FREE DEMO DROPS!!! "THE RAMEN BAR" WISHLIST ON STEAM🍜

Game name: Hotel Is Hungry

Two survivors crash-land on a world nobody has seen before. No missions, no victory screen: just keeping them alive and slowly working out how the place works.

This is run three of Farcamp, the colony survival game I'm building, and the first run through its brand-new beginner tutorial, made for an upcoming private beta with friends and family. I play it the way a new player would and fix what breaks as I go: pausing in multiplayer, a coyote warning nobody notices, sleeping on the ground, feeding a collapsed colonist. Then comes a -4° night, the fire burns the sticks I needed for beds, and the food and water run out. Verdict: too hard for a beginner.

Part two, how the fix got made (from this playthrough's transcript to a redesign): https://youtu.be/N6IoSPiV1Ro

Farcamp is in early development. Ideas, bug reports and requests are welcome on the project page: https://opensystems.app/projects/01M3B70Q318G1G8N0NSV63ME5X

0:00 Day 1 - a new colony, and the new tutorial 5:42 Day 2 - a coyote, a cold night, and the fire 10:03 Day 3 - burning the bed sticks for warmth 15:17 Day 4 - out of water, out of food

I'm taking Donut Panic to the Tokyo Game Show, which means it's time to make a demo!

But there's a pretty fundamental issue with core loop of my cooking horror game, which is that cooking had no real importance to the gameplay, so I had to rethink the game design.

To fix this, I ended up adding a few new layers to the gameplay, making cooking more important, rewarding players for cooking well, adding some risk and reward to incentivize cooking quickly, and a brand new CCTV insurance mechanic to balance things out.

I'm also giving away two Donut Panic art packages! All you have to do is check out the demo and let me know what you think in the comments below. Two winners will be drawn at random from all valid comments on this video and contacted via email or discord shortly after the closing date. Competition closes Tuesday 22nd September 2026 at 23:59 GMT. Competition is open to subscribers aged 18 years or older, in countries currently reachable by Royal Mail.

Donut Panic will be at booth E-49 in the Selected Indie 80 area.
